Ms. Pam Shields

While it seems like only yesterday, my career actually began 24 years ago in Oglethorpe County as a  special education teacher.  Upon graduating from UGA in December 1992, I was blessed to receive a position in January 1993.  I have had the good fortune to teach children with special needs as well as those in the general education setting.  After spending 10 years in Oglethorpe County, I pursued a position as an assistant principal  in Jackson County.  While serving in that capacity, I was responsible for testing, professional development, preparing for SACS visits, evaluating teachers, fostering a positive climate, handling behavior issues, and the day to day operations of an elementary school.  Nine years ago, a principalship opened in Jackson County and I was asked to assume that responsibility.  It has been an amazing journey and I am proud of the accomplishments my staff and I have achieved.  Through much hard work and perseverance, we  have built a firm foundation the students that we serve.  My passion is to ensure that all students have the opportunity to be prepared to function as literate citizens.  As I begin my 25th year, I am committed to the  success of Blandy Hills Elementary School and look forward to serving the families of Baldwin County.  I am confident that together, we will accomplish much in preparing students for a successful future.
